Thanks for the post. VERY INTERESTING article. I find it amazing to know that, in fact, the prophecy regarding the United Nations was not unique to the WTBTS. But, rather the prophecy was made many years prior by other fundamentalist Christians. Does anyone know where I can find the original books or pamphlets that Jonsson cites in this article?
as of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.

is there anyway your friend in texas can get you a copy of that annual accreditation form that he has to fill out? If we can have the proof that such a form exists and the signature requires a director or officer had to sign, I believe that would be significant for those teetering on the fence regarding this issue.

there have always been things about the bible that never really made much sense to me.
not to say that i disagree with whats in the bible but i have wondered about the fairness of certain things.. 1. for example i've always even as a child thought that it was odd that so many people would die during armageddon.
now as an adult and i understand people better than i did years ago i really do feel puzzled about the fact that according to the scriptures the majority of mankind will perish.

Here are my thoughts...
If Noah's flood really happened, then that would mean that Noah would have had to make sure to get at least one of (but the bible says a pair) each animal that exists today, and that means down to every tick, flea, roach, frog, bird, dog, etc. Does that make sense? Could it even be possible that he was able to gather up all the animals that exist all over the earth today during that 40 days and 40 nights?
Doesn't the Bible say that you just have to believe in Jesus and that will bring everlasting life (I think its in the Book of John in the New Testament). If that is so, why would it be necessary to go out and try to convert others in order for God to love us. God gave us his son, Jesus, and Jesus died for our sins a "free gift" for each of us. Aren't we all witnessing here on this board, to our family and friends everyday. Does witnessing necessarily mean going door to door?

Good points Yerusalyim. I have read your points Robert, but it seems that you seem to skirt answering most of the questions directly by giving a roundabout answer. How come the 607 date is ok if there is no exact evidence to support it? How come secular history is not reliable and yet most Jehovahs Witnesses rely on the encyclopedia date of 537 to start the count of 70 years from Jeremiah 25:12? How come you won't answer the blood questions directly? How come you did not address whether the 144,000 were supposed to be perfect, men that were virgins according to Revelation?

Is it fair to limit what information you provide to a person seeking answers by restricting on the basis of what you believe is reasonable? Isn't reasonableness upto each individual person to decide?

We are still looking for an answer to some questions that were posted here last night. I figured I would reply to put it back up top for people to read who weren't on the board last night.
I am especially interested (and so is erik) in whether or not there is proof that The Memorial originates from Pagan rituals, as mentioned earlier on one of these posts. Also, what are some other Pagan rituals or symbols?
Does anyone have information on how I can get a copy of Ellen G. White's writings from Russell's time?

I posted here several weeks ago regarding my fiance's turmoil and what we were going through. Although I know you mean well, since this began I have begun my own quest for knowledge and truth. I am reading WT publications that Erik has brought to me to read with the Bible, as well as lots of other stuff by Randy Watters, Ray Franz, etc. from the internet sites as well as various books. I am trying to educate myself as well as Erik. Right now, I think I have to be loving and supportive as Erik goes on this journey for truth. At some point, if God leads me to the belief that we truly are not meant for each other, I will let Erik know. But, for now, I am taking day by day, albeit truly difficult and emotional, and at times I feel like I am being destroyed, I know this is better for our relationship that these issues get worked out now rather than after the marriage. I truly believe that if God means for us to be together we will get through this and Erik and I will both be stronger individuals and each of us closer to God and our relationship will be stronger as well.
For everyone else, please respond to Erik's questions if you can with scriptural basis. Does The Memorial truly have its roots in pagan ritual? is there proof of this?

i am not sure if it is true and most likely, there is no way to prove it.
she said that on the day of the attack, there was a group of people outside the wtc screaming and badmouthing jws because they don't fly the flag etc.

hi, in a continued effort to educate my fiance and open his eyes, i am trying to understand how to refute certain things he has said and get proof of some of the issues that i have read on various threads here over the past week.
please, please, can people answer back on how i should respond.... 1. in franz's book, he doesn't come out and say that he was one of the annointed, but yet he accepted a position as a member of the gb (my fiance spoke to franz last week and asked him a question regarding being annointed, to which franz answered "well, i had the a heavenly hope that i was annointed.." well, that threw my fiance off and now he doubts whether franz ever truly believed he was annointed.
i have told him that noone can ever prove if they were annointed, but he says that the annointed "just know, they have that feeling and know without a doubt that they will be in heaven with god and jesus.
